AIR TEMP: 5°C, overcast, calm. HABITAT: murky brownwater creek at limestone flats below old milldam, water 3°C. OBSERVER: Frederick W. Schueler, Aleta Karstad Schueler, Catherine Millar, La Cite Collegiale class. 2015/362/a, visit (event). natural history, wade, dipnetted, light. La Cite Collegiale class Mudpuppy Night outing. Lots of students in the water with small dipnets, so scrutiny of the bottom may have been more intense than usual – but also the uncertainty of who’d caught what, so total counts of Necturus maculosus (Mudpuppy) may not be as accurate as most weeks.

> Water very murky, so that the bottom was mostly unscannable from the bridge. Level about the same as last week, with 1 cm flowing over the Vantage Point ledge. A few slender yellowish small Cyprinidae seen on the lower west side.

> 2015/362/aa, Necturus maculosus (Mudpuppy) (herp). 21 adult, seen, light, dipnetted. scattered, mostly little ones with a few big ones, relatively few of intermediate size. On the east side they were all downstream except one on the flats; most were under the spreading Acer negundo (Manitoba Maple) tree and one below the dropoff – 8 captured and about 4 others seen.

> On the west side 7 captured and 2 seen – most in deeper water of west side flats (all by students – FWS scanned the flats and saw none), three of these were up just below the dam above the Vantage Point ledge, a place where we’ve rarely seen them before.

> 2015/362/ab, Rana pipiens (Leopard Frog) (herp). 2 adult, seen, light, dipnetted. ca 60 mm F from E side, ca 50 mm juv from W side, taken with Necturus.

> 2015/362/ac, Rana clamitans (Green Frog) (herp). 2 adult, juvenile, seen, light, dipnetted. ca 60 mm F from W side, ca 50 mm juv from E side, taken with Necturus.

> 2015/362/ad, Rana catesbeiana (Bull Frog) (herp). 1 adult, juvenile, seen, light, dipnetted. ca 70 mm juv from E side, taken with Necturus.

> 2015/362/ae, Orconectes rusticus HYBRID:Orconectes propinquus (hybrid Rusty/propinquus Crayfish) (Crayfish). 1 adult, dipnetted, specimen. hybrid ad from E side flats.

> 2015/362/af, Lethocerus americanus (Toebiter) (entomological). 1 mature, dipnetted, captured. from E side under Acer negundo, taken with Necturus.

> moved 10.4km S – Bishops Mills(Co Road 18/Mill St. intersection). (200m ard intersection), 44.87246N 75.70096W TIME: 2150ca-2159. AIR TEMP: 5°C, overcast, calm. HABITAT: streets in rural village & surrounding fields, facing 30 Main Street-6 St Lawrence St. OBSERVER: Frederick W. Schueler. FWS15Dec042150/a, cf Noctua pronuba (Large Yellow Underwing) (entomological). 1 larva, dead on road. midroad of Co Road 18 at Weirs House, with green guts, streets 95% dry.
