After paddling up the mouth of Eel’s Creek with a friend on Labour Day and seeing no less than ten Map Turtles, (including six on the same log), I was reminded of another I saw back in June not far from there. The latter was well on her way up a pine-wooded slope more than sixty metres from the lake (Stoney). Once I returned ten minutes later with a camera, I found her another twenty metres further inland, and took a few photos. This was not far from the Quarry Bay public beach off of Northey’s Bay Road, north shore of Stoney Lake.
