I have been meaning to submit this sighting for a while. On the morning of December 8, 2014, I had a Northern Flicker at the finch feeder on my backyard deck (north end Peterborough). I have never seen one before and didn’t know what bird was until I looked it up. It was SO beautiful!  Thought you might be interested unless this is common – it sure wasn’t to me!

(Note: Flickers usually turn up at a handful of feeders in late fall and winter, but they are never common at these times of year. Most flickers migrate south in the fall. D.M.)
