In early August, I found two very comical-looking Hermit Sphinx Moth caterpillars, Lintneria eremitus, on my basil. Tony Bigg was able to identify it. According to Tony, common foodplants are basil, bee-balm, bugleweed, mints, sage and others in the mint family.
