North American Millipede (Dan Vanderzwet)

North American Millipede (Dan Vanderzwet)

I live on a farm in Omemee, near Emily Park. Growing up in this area, I have observed a lot of nature. However, in just the last few weeks I seem to have seen more variety that I have ever noticed. My sightings include a Hummingbird Clearwing moth, a giant North American Millipede (Narceus americana), at least two species of frogs that tend to climb on glass windows or screens at night and a wild, native Canada Plum tree full of ripe fruit.

I don’t know how rare this tree is but would never have guessed it exists and that it has evaded my discovery for so long. This was several weeks back.
The grand finale was tonight when I stumbled across a Pandorus Sphinx as identified on the following website . It was even among wild grape vines which sounds to be itsfood source. What an amazing looking creature!
