Yesterday and today, there has been a beautiful stag Elk in the first open field (W side) on Douro 8th Line just south of River Road. Huge antlers! He is wearing a tag #129 in his right ear. Apparently this animal has been seen in a number of locations in southern Peterborough County for the last two years. It was seen in at least two locations this month. (See October 4 and 11) It is an offspring of the Elk that were introduced into the Bancroft area in 2000 and 2001. That herd may now number over 600.
