We came to our cottage on Lower Buckhorn Lake today and around 5:00 pm I spotted what I thought was an eagle flying in front of the cottage over the open water. We realized afterwards that this was actually an Osprey. Two of them landed on the ice at the waters edge and stayed there for about half an hour while we watched them through our spotting scope. This is the earliest we have seen Osprey around here. On February 23, a Bald Eagle landed in the pine tree on a small island on the lake and stayed there for about 10 minutes.
