Greater Scaup (male) photo from Wikimedia

On March 1, 11 a.m. at the pedestrian bridge over the Otonabee by No Frills, downtown Ptbo, a male Greater Scaup was in amongst the Mallards. I actually had my binoculars with me and was no more than 10 metres away. The green head and other key field marks were clearly visible. Only one bird. He must have been lonely.
