In pretty much the exact spot (north end of Belmont Lake) where I had seen and reported a Peregrine on April 29th 2013, I saw another, (immature also), on August 28th 2013, fly through the same farm. But this time, instead of putting up the local starlings, pigeons were the victims of the passing falcon`s terror. In quick, level flight, the falcon tipped up slightly, dividing the flock of 30+ pigeons into two smaller groups, but stayed on course, and headed towards Belmont Lake to the south. It is the earliest “fall peregrine” that I have seen in southern Ontario, I wondered about the likelihood of it perhaps having been one of the dispersing young birds from the recent nesting in North Kawartha during the spring and summer of 2013.
