I live southwest of the village of Millbrook on the 4th (Zion Line) at Elgar Drive. Just south and west of us on the north flank of the Oak Ridges Moraine are some large open fields that have not been in cultivation for many years and there are numerous bird boxes suitable for Eastern Bluebirds which used to abound. However, I have not seen any there since late fall of 2012. Now the boxes are home to nesting Tree Swallows mainly and some Starlings. Any idea what may have happened to the bluebirds; have any other similar reports come your way?
