This afternoon, I found a male BARROW’S GOLDENEYE at the Lakefield Sewage Ponds in Lakefield. The bird was swimming in the first pond (the one nearest the road) with Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, Ring-necked Ducks and Lesser Scaup. To reach the Lakefield Sewage Ponds take Hwy 28 N (formerly Highway 134) of Peterborough to County Rd 33 and turn left. Drive approx. 1km – the driveway leading to the sewage ponds is on the left (S side). Park at the side so not to block the gateway.
