Autumn Meadowhawk one of fall’s last dragonflies

Photo of a male Autumn Meadowhawk (Sympetrum vicinum), a species of dragonfly in the skimmer family. Always a great day at the feeder when both an Evening Grosbeak and White-winged Crossbill show up!

November 1st was a great day for finches at my feeders. Not only did the juvenile White-winged Crossbill return, I also had a male Evening Grosbeak, many American Goldfinches, a few Pine Siskins, and a juvenile/female Purple Finch. Tony Bigg, Lakefield

Beautiful brown-phase Gray Squirrel
