Chalk-fronted Skimmers are highlight of dragonfly parade this week

At least somebody likes the carp!

Our condo neighbour, Betty Mitchell, got this shot of a Great Blue Heron today at the Auburn Dam on the Otonabee River. The herons love to feed on the carp at the dam. Gord Young

Gaggles of geese and nesting loons on the Otonabee River

I spotted the geese and loons while driving on River Rd.N. between Locks 23 & 24, the morning of June 21st. Beautiful site to behold. The ice and high water levels earlier this spring displaced clumps of natural vegetation. The loons are making good use of some of these. Sandy Read more…
