I wrote to you last year about a Red-tailed Hawk nest near Monaghan Road at the entrance to Jackson Park. I have been watching the nest since the hawks returned in March. They poked about at the nest and sometime later it was obvious that the female bird was sitting on the eggs. In early May, I think that the eggs hatched. I was away but when I came back on the 14th a little head or two would come up for food. One day last week the crows were chasing one of the birds and it looked to me as though the crow had hit the hawk which might have fallen in the pine trees or flown away to the east out of my sight. Since then I have seen only one bird at the nest and the nest is frequently without a parent.
This morning (May 25) when the parent came back there were no little heads reaching up for food…………perhaps the chicks were sleeping ? Is anyone else watching the nest ?

Update: The nest was somehow destroyed in mid-July, 2014.
